A different Sort of Mother's Day post
Happy Mother's Day
a slightly different message
I am a little late with this post...I had intended to not acknowledge the day at all but have changed my mind. Today I am wishing a very happy Mother's day to all those good moms out there. They may not know who they are so I will be specific.
Happy Mother's day to all the moms who dropped everything and got their child into therapy the minute they (mom) found out child had been s*xu*lly as*au*ted.
Happy Mother's day to all the moms who took the bedroom and bathroom doors off their frames to prevent same (above) child from having a place to hide and SI.
Happy Mother's day to all the moms who watch their child move far away and do not pile guilt on them for doing so...even though they are sad to see them go.
Happy Mother's day to all the moms who have all their children's friends at their home at the same time and allow the children to be children...no matter how much noise, mess and scraped knees are involved.
Happy Mother's day to all the moms who go without new shoes and new clothes so that their children will have those things.
Happy Mother's day to all the moms that understand that children get dirty.
Happy Mother's day to all the moms that agonize over the possible damage something they said in anger/hurt may cause their child.
Happy Mother's day to all the moms who recognized an abuser and kept their child away from them.
Happy Mother's day to all the moms who DIDN'T recognize an abuser until abuse had occurred, and now agonize over not recognizing the danger to their child.
Happy Mother's day to all the moms who miss their estranged children terribly.
Happy Mother's day to all the moms who taught their children to say NO appropriately.
Happy Mother's day to all the moms who freely gave hugs...with no strings.
Happy Mother's day to all the moms who mother other people's children.
Happy Mother's day to all the moms who mother other people's ADULT children.
Happy Mother's day to all the moms who listen to what their children (small or big) have to say.
Happy Mother's day to all the moms who applaud their children's successes.
Happy Mother's day to all the moms who don't harp on their children's failures.
Happy Mother's day to all the moms who don't compare their children.
Happy Mother's day to all the moms who encourage their children's interests...no matter how silly or how much of a waste of time they may think the interests are.
Happy Mother's day to all the moms who think of their children first.

Thank you.
I will be the first to admit that I haven't been a perfect mother, having a lot of my own problems. But I have always genuinely loved my son, and I really have tried.
